LAS VEGAS – February 19, 2016 In its continued effort to attract esports enthusiasts and video gamers, Downtown Grand Las Vegas Hotel & Casino will host the opening event for the 2016 Madden Community Championship (MCC16), powered by GamerSaloon. The $15,000 Madden weekend competition will kickoff at Downtown Grand with a Crew-v-Crew tournament on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 8 p.m. The winning team of Friday night’s tournament will leave with a grand prize of $1,200. The contest will take place in the Downtown Underground, the new eSports lounge at the Downotwn Grand. Entry into the tournament is priced at $50.

Eight teams comprised of three players each will battle it out in the Crew-v-Crew style tournament playing Madden on Xbox1. Each round will consist of three games so that each team player will get to face the opposing crew. The teams will continue to play to acquire a total win and loss record. That record will be the deciding factor and the winning team will walk away with $1,200.

The MCC16 weekend will continue on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. for the main event at GameWorks eSports Facility in Las Vegas, with prizes totaling more than $10,000. For more information and tournament details, please visit www.gamersaloon.com/mcc16/.

Next week, Downtown Grand hosts the Wargaming.net League North America (WGLNA) Season 2 2016 Regional Finals for the popular video game, World of Tanks, on Saturday, February 27, 2016. A championship eSports tournament for one of the world’s most popular video games, WGLNA will feature four teams competing at the Downtown Grand for the chance to win the first place grand prize of $75,000. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet fellow tankers, WGLNA pro gamers, the Wargaming team and can check out the Wargaming Hummer and Alienware Live Tour outside the hotel for swag.  The event is free to the public, and the doors to the Fremont Room will open at 12:45 p.m. PT. In the property’s newly created eSports lounge, Downtown Grand hosts video game fight night tournaments every Friday at Downtown Grand with a guaranteed cash prize. This Friday, February 19 at 7 p.m. is the first STREET FIGHTER V eContest at Downtown Grand since the release of the game. Entry fee is $15 and guests must be 21 years or older.

In addition, Downtown Grand is currently hosting the LA Renegades in residency, a group of five eSports athletes from Australia who are among the world’s elite players of “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive”, a first-person shooter game.
