Downtown Grand Continues to Evolve with Strong Performance

LAS VEGAS – February 3, 2016 – Downtown Grand Las Vegas, the sophisticated destination resort encompassing an entire urban block of hotel, casino and dining amenities, demonstrated a strong operating performance in 2015 by posting an average 90 percent room occupancy along with a steady growth in casino operations, as well as the continued popularity of its signature dining experience Triple George Grill, corner favorite Pizza Rock and resident bar Hogs & Heifers.

Early in 2015, the 30,000 square-foot rooftop infinity pool area was rebranded as the Grand Pool Deck, featuring a fresh food and beverage menu, new cabanas and furniture, and has become a prominent attraction for both the public and hotel guests.

The Downtown Grand casino, operated by Fifth Street Gaming, introduced a program of enhancements last fall.  Gaming promotions and events were introduced, the gaming floor was updated to create a more intimate environment with electronic table games, and the casino launched an esports gaming lounge that will be expanded later this month.  New signage was installed on 3rd Street to create a stronger visual presence, particularly for pedestrians walking on nearby Fremont Street Experience.

Seth Schorr, Chairman of Downtown Grand and owner of Fifth Street Gaming, introduced Jim Simms as the CEO of Downtown Grand in June 2015 to oversee the resort destination and expand its gaming promotions and casino operations. Simms’ goal was to advance the full casino resort experience, while capitalizing on the recognized success of the hotel and dining offerings including Triple George Grill and Pizza Rock. Working with Schorr, Simms completed his one-year plan ahead of schedule, and is now leaving Fifth Street Gaming and Downtown Grand.

“Downtown Grand is poised for another successful year catering to its guests with the opening of new culinary and entertainment amenities, elevating the casual sophisticated resort experience in Downtown Las Vegas,” said Schorr.  “In March, the Grand Pool Deck will reopen for the 2016 season introducing a new culinary twist and enhanced outdoor entertainment amenities.  Later this spring, stay tuned for more announcements on additional unveilings.”
