Cheyenne’s Magical School Bus Tours Provide At-Risk Children the Chance to Visit the Magical Forest at Opportunity Village
Visits include disability awareness and anti-bullying program for all attendees
LAS VEGAS – Throughout Opportunity Village’s Magical Forest season, individuals and businesses can sponsor Cheyenne’s Magical School Bus Tours, which provide kindergarten and first graders from Clark Country School District’s at-risk schools the chance to revel in the spirit of the holidays and take part in a disability awareness and anti-bullying program. For many of these students, it will be the first time they’ve ever met Santa or received a Christmas gift.
With the Cheyenne’s Magical School Bus Tour program, at-risk children are able to visit the Magical Forest where they can spend some time with Santa, ride on Cheyenne’s Enchanted Carousel and the Forest Express Passenger Train and enjoy hot cocoa and a cookie. Student transportation is provided for Cheyenne’s Magical School Bus Tours through generous sponsor donations. Each child goes home with a new backpack, hat, mittens and a special gift. Every teacher receives a backpack filled with materials to further their students’ education on disability awareness and anti-bullying along with two tickets to visit the Magical Forest.
Sponsorship opportunities are available making these visits possible for children in our community. They enable children who are homeless or live on the economic edge to have a happy holiday and experience the wonders of the season while at the same time, encourage them to make friends with their classmates with disabilities and help put an end to bullying. Sponsors of Cheyenne’s Magical School Bus Tours program have the opportunity to participate in this heartwarming program and meet the children by volunteering the day of their sponsored field trip. Below are cost levels for individuals or businesses interested in sponsoring classes to attend a tour.
Cheyenne’s Magical School Bus Tours sponsorship levels:
Sponsor one at-risk class: $500 – Enables 50 school children to attend
Sponsor two at-risk classes: $1,000 – Enables 100 school children to attend

About Opportunity Village
Mission: Opportunity Village is a not-for-profit organization that serves people within our community with significant intellectual disabilities, to improve their lives and the lives of their families.
Opportunity Village was founded in 1954 by seven families who were determined to give their children with disabilities the best lives possible. Now, more than 60 years later, Opportunity Village is one of the most recognized and respected organizations of its type in the United States.
Nevada’s largest employer of people with disabilities (who we call OVIPs), Opportunity Village serves nearly 3,000 individuals annually, providing vocational training, employment, habilitation and social recreation programs and services that make their lives more purposeful and interesting.
Opportunity Village citizens – individuals who were previously considered unemployable – work at Opportunity Village’s Employment Resource Centers and in jobs throughout the community, collectively earning wages amounting to more than $3.9 million in 2014. They are hard-working and diligent, proudly paying taxes and happily leading more fulfilling lives.
Primarily a self-funded organization, Opportunity Village generates the majority of its operational funding through its employment contracts and fundraising efforts such as the Magical Forest and Great Santa Run, saving Nevada taxpayers nearly $35 million annually.
