Las Vegas, NV (August 25, 2015) – The third annual style with a cause event inspiring women through fashion and beauty takes flight on the runway at the Great Hall inside Fashion Show Mall in fabulous Las Vegas on Thursday, September 17 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Mercedes from Mix 94.1 and Rachel Smith from Fox 5 will lead guests through a fun-filled night of friends, cocktails, nibbles from Maggiano’s, a fall fashion show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue, a real life beauty transformation and recognizing unsung heroes from the Las Vegas community. This year, style with a cause benefits Opportunity Village.

style with a cause has chosen Opportunity Village’s own OVIP Lisa Hanchett as the beauty transformation recipient.  Lisa will be celebrated on the runway at the event. “I worked with Opportunity Village this spring and was moved by how much the OVIP’s taught me when I was supposed to be helping them.  I can’t think of a more deserving beneficiary,” says Doughton.

Adding to the excitement this year, we will unveil our first-ever style with a cause collection. Spoonflower and style with a cause collaborated to create an exclusive fabric that was gifted to five designers around the country. “Project Runway All Star” Joshua J. Christensen and “Project Runway’s” Carlos Casanova will be two of the five designers along with Las Vegas’s own Jennifer Henry of Flock Flock Flock who creates one-of-a-kind dresses using paper and cellophane. Her fabric will be printed on wrapping paper rolls. As well, local costume designer Christina Rudigier who is currently with Penn & Teller and Human Nature and this year’s Junior League of Las Vegas 2015 “Fashion Forward” winner Ilian Angulo will be creating masterpieces for the designer collaboration. Their one-of-a-kind pieces will walk the runway and be auctioned at the end of the event.

About Opportunity Village
Mission: Opportunity Village is a not-for-profit organization that serves people within our community with significant intellectual disabilities, to enhance their lives and the lives of their families.

Opportunity Village was founded in 1954 by seven families who were determined to give their children with disabilities the best lives possible. Now, more than 60 years later, Opportunity Village is one of the most recognized and respected organizations of its type in the United States.

Nevada’s largest employer of people with disabilities (who we call OVIPs), Opportunity Village serves nearly 2,000 individuals annually, providing vocational training, employment, habilitation and social recreation programs and services that make their lives more purposeful and interesting.

Opportunity Village citizens – individuals who were previously considered unemployable – work at Opportunity Village’s Employment Resource Centers and in jobs throughout the community, collectively earning wages amounting to more than $3.9 million in 2014.  They are hard-working and diligent, proudly paying taxes and happily leading more fulfilling lives.

Primarily a self-funded organization, Opportunity Village generates the majority of its operational funding through its employment contracts and fundraising efforts such as the Magical Forest and Great Santa Run, saving Nevada taxpayers nearly $35 million annually.
