LAS VEGAS – Eyes & Optics, an independent eye care and eyewear boutique, is a top finalist in an annual competition held by one of America’s top optical trade-publications. The well-established practice, locally owned and operated by acclaimed optometrist Dr. Edward J. Malik, will be honored in the July/August 2015 issue of the magazine. In celebration, Eyes & Optics will host an all-day trunk show open to the public on Saturday, June 20, offering optical frames by designer brands including Bellinger and Maui Jim at special pricing, and designer clearance pieces at 50%-70% off. This will be the boutique’s largest sale of the year. Embargoed by the magazine until late June, the coveted award will be formally announced during the trunk show.
The annual contest highlights the country’s best, most creative optical businesses. Magazine staff and a panel of expert judges critique the businesses’ exterior and interior appearance, marketing ingenuity, and overall creative approach. Comprising 2,085 square feet of retail space, Eyes & Optics features a rock ‘n roll themed décor including exposed white brick walls, distressed repurposed furniture, concrete floors and theatrical stage lighting, while showcasing nostalgic rock show posters and vintage celebrity eyewear ads. In addition, Eyes & Optics’ eyewear display area boasts a poker table with specialized lighting to test eyewear glare for gaming industry professionals.
